What a great day for the Free Clinic! On February 26, with help from an amazing team, the Minority and Veteran Farmers of the Piedmont, Virginia Cooperative Extension, and Whole Heart Farms, an educational seminar on how to assemble raised garden boxes was held in front of the clinic. Together, those who attended the seminar built four beautiful cedar boxes!
These boxes will be used to grow vegetables and herbs so that our patients and nearby neighbors can add some healthy options to their diet — for free! We are very grateful to everyone who helped make this happen: Eugene Triplett and the MVFP, VCU staff, Brenda Watkevich of Cooperative Extension, Michelle and Craig Burris of Whole Heart Farms, Julio Davila and Dave Kemp of Options, who will be assisting with the project. Thank you also to Joyce, Dick, Katherine, Ainsley, Thunder and everyone else who attended!
